Material in our furniture
Wood
All our furniture is made from solid pine wood. The timber comes from an FSC-certified sawmill in Poland. Pine is a durable material, making it perfect for furniture designed to last a long time. The sawmill is FSC®-certifierat , which means all the wood we use comes from responsible forestry, ensuring sustainability for both nature and people.
ADVANTAGES OF SOLID PINE:
- Durability: Pine is strong and can withstand wear and tear.
- Aesthetic: Provides a warm and natural feel to the interior.
- Easy to work with: Pine is easy to saw, shape, and paint.
Forging
The metalwork we use in our furniture is made from raw, untreated steel, which means the surface will naturally age and develop a beautiful patina over time. If desired, it can be sealed with a non-water-based clear lacquer.
Forging is a traditional method of working with metal by heating it and shaping it with hammer strikes or pressure. We use steel from Poland. When heated, the steel becomes malleable and can be shaped. The forging process strengthens the metal, making it more durable by compacting the material and removing impurities.
In addition to being a practical method of working metal, forging is also an art form. Our blacksmiths create unique products, such as fire baskets, log holders, and other interior details.
Paint
In our furniture, we use standard wood paint. The colors available in our range are white, brown, gray, and black. As a more sustainable option, we also offer linseed oil and linseed oil paint.Linseed Oil & Linseed Oil Paint
We now offer a more sustainable option with natural linseed oil and linseed oil paint from Ottosson Färgmakeri, a company based in Genarp, just a few miles from our office. In collaboration with them, we can treat our self-produced furniture with various finishes and colors based on linseed oil, a sustainable choice we are proud to offer our customers. Ottosson Färgmakeri collaborates with one of Sweden's largest flax growers, with fields primarily in Skåne and Östergötland, providing us with access to locally produced high-quality linseed oil.
Currently, we have used the following colors and treatments on our furniture: Antique Green, Berg Blue, Light Yellow, Red Ochre, Öveds Green, and Walnut, which is a pigmented linseed glaze. However, we offer all the colors available in Ottosson’s range.
